FreePPP is an older Mac Dialer,
however, it's still widely used. To start it, simply open the FreePPP
Icon on your desktop. You should see a screen similiar to the one on
the left. The options for a Mac are fairly self explanitory. Under
the "General" tab, you want the options "Allow applications to open
connection" to be checked if you want your mail or browser to automatically
dial the net for you. If you're on a metered or limited time plan I
would suggest checking the "Disconnect if idle for" section and setting
the time as you would like it. You don't need the "Check line every" unless
you are having telephone line problems. And I'd have the "Allow alerts
during connection" checked so that any system alerts will be shown
to you. When done here, click on MODEM SETUP at the bottom. |
